S.T.F.      -   ORGANISATIONAL SET UP 


The Special Task Force of UP Police was created for a short period of 6 months vide GO No. 1889 (1)/VI-Pu-98-1100 (35)98 dated 4.5.98 of UP Govt. for specific purpose. The then Addl. DG L/O Shri Ajai Raj Sharma was given the task to organize the formation of structure and functioning of STF. 

OBJECTIVES: 

            Following objectives have been fixed for STF:

1.      Collection of Intelligence about Mafia gangs and intelligence based action against such gangs.

2.      Preparation of action plan and its execution against Disruptive Elements especially ISI agents

3.      Action against listed gangs in coordination with district police.

4.      Effective action against gang of dacoits especially inter district gangs.

5.      Effective action against inter district gangs of Organized criminals.

 MANPOWER: 

            Following manpower has been sanctioned at the time of its creation and was made available from various districts and units by way of temporary attachment.

During short period STF successfully achieved its target. In the year 2001 Govt. of Uttar Pradesh considered necessity for creation of STF as a regular unit of UP Police and vide GO No. 2233/6-Pu-2-2000-1100(35)/98 dated 4.01.2001 following 108 posts have been created:-

In the year 2005 Govt. considered for the expansion of STF. Therefore STF has been strengthened vide GO No.2546/6-Pu-2-2--5-1100(35½/98 TC dated 19.07.2005 following additional posts have been sanctioned for STF HQRS:-

FIELD UNITS

 

            STF has its 6 Field Units. Vide Go No. 2546/6-Pu-2-2--5-1100(35½/98 TC dated 19.07.2005 Filed units have been sanctioned in Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Kanpur, Meerut and Agra. Every field unit is headed by Dy. Supdt. of Police and is supervised by Addl. Supdt. of Police. Each  Addl. Supdt. of Police supervised two units viz. Varanasi and Gorakhpur by One Addl. SP, Allahabad and Kanpur by one Addl. SP and Meerut and Agra by one Addl. SP. Set up of Filed Units are asunder:-

CONSTITUTION OF TWO ADDITIONAL UNITS OF STF IN EASTERN AND WESTERN LOCATED ATVARANASI AND GAUTAMBUDHNAGAR 

Govt. of Uttar Pradesh has sanctioned two Headquarters of DIG of Police Special Task Force at Varanasi and Gautambudhnagar (Noida) vide GO No. 1951/6-Pu-2-07-1100(35)/98 TC dated 26.11.2007.  Following posts have been sanctioned for these Hqrs:-
