Brief History The unit is scrapped following central Govt unit for the border security It is an Organisation under U.P. police, Constituted by a U.P. Government order on 25.09.2002, to deal with specified crimes on the bordering areas of Uttar Pradesh. It is noteworthy that that U.P. state has borders with states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgargh, M.P., Rajsthan, Delhi, Haryana, H.P. and Uttaranchal. 30 districts of U.P. are situated along this Inter-State Border. The inter state boundary of U.P. stretches across 3390 Km. The U.P. Police Inter-State Border Force is headed by an A.D.G.. There are two border Zones headed by Is.G., namely- Western Zone with headquarters at Agra & Eastern Zone with headquarters at
Inter-state border Force is carrying out its
tasks in co-operation and co-ordination with the local police.
Its primary objective is to strengthen policing along inter-state
borders for tasks specified for this force. Objectives The organisation has been entrusted mainly to prevent and control the following specified crimes of trans-border nature. (1) Movement of Inter-state criminals Gangs and Mafia gangs. (2) Smuggling activities of illegal weapons. Narcotics, explosives in border areas of state. (3) Theft and illegal felling of trees and protection of protected wild life and other forest wealth in border areas of state. (4) Illegal mining and movement of minerals in border areas. (5) Illegal movement and theft of cattle/ live stock in border areas for illicit purpose.
